Along with the ability to confirm and cancel we have also added the ability to opt out of communications. This can be done for any of the types or methods of communication. It can be changed by the practice or patient at any time and in the patient portal.
Media in general can be exhausting and often turns into noise that people ignore. To help prevent this and give patients a better option to choose what they receive we want to build an opt out option. This lets a patient choose what types of communication they receive. We wanted to give patients the ability to change their communication preferences quickly and easily at any time.
It is important to note when you opt out of a message, it is only for that type of message. You may continue to receive messages for other types of messages such as new forms, lab results or appointment reminders. If you want to opt out of all messages this is easiest done by accessing communication preferences in the patient portal or through the patient chart.
To opt out of a text message communication you simply respond with “unsubscribe.” This will turn off this type of message. There is an instruction at the end of the message informing the recipient how to stop messages.
Note: you will continue to receive other types and methods of communication.
To opt out of email message communication you will click on the link that says opt out. This will give you a dialog window letting you know you have turned off those types of messages.
Note: you will continue to receive other types and methods of communication.
To opt out of phone messages at the end of the voice message you will hear a prompt to opt out by pressing a number.
During this voice message press 3 to opt out of those types of voice messages.
Note: you will continue to receive other types and methods of communication.
You can turn off all types and methods of communication in the patient portal. See Patient Portal Communication settings to see how to turn off these different communications.
