In accordance with the ONC certification body we have added a new feature of electronic case reporting to state health registries. This allows a practice to report conditions as required in the form of CCDA documents.
The ONC certification body is requiring all EHR’s to provide a way to report certain conditions to state health registries. The aim is to improve reporting, control and treatment of certain conditions. It consists of having triggers for diagnosis that can be reported on and submitted to state and federal health registries for tracking.
To use ECR reporting is very simple. You will need to have patients with problems that can be found in the reportable conditions trigger table found on the National Library of medicines website. Then run a health registry export.
To run an export click on the tools dashboard icon and select Data Export.
Then click on new export on the top right and select Health Registry from the type drop down.
Set the date period that you want to capture and click add. This will run the query to find any patients that have reportable conditions.
Click on the download button on the top right next to the trash can to download the export. This will download a zipped export of CCD’s for all the patients it found. These files can then be uploaded to a state health registry or any registry that accepts HL7 messages.
