We have added new macros to the reminder configuration system. This allows our users to customize the appointment reminder that is sent to the patient providing them with useful appointment information like when, where and how to contact them.
When appointment reminders were first built, they were missing functionality to automatically populate appointment information. This meant that messaging had to be generic and was not helpful.
Appointment reminders will have the macro’s setup with a default text that can be altered as you like. We’ve created some basic messages for email, text and voice that when you enable reminders, will then be displayed.
To begin, you will need to have Appointment reminders enabled. You must have manager access to do this. Implementation or support can also help with this.
Once enabled you will see the configuration screen and defaults already present under the message area.
This is where you can change the message to suit your practice. There is an information icon seen below that will show you the available macros you can use. They must be written exactly, or they will not work.
When you click on the information icon it will display this list below. The column on the left displays how it must be typed in the message window. The column to the right explains what will be output in the message.
*If message defaults are removed, they will not be restored. Save them to a note before deleting them if you wish to use them later.
Macros also work for the message subject in emails as shown below.
After changes are made you need to click the save button to retain the changes in the system. This completes the setup. Macros will then be used for any reminders that are enabled.
