Renewing Medications

For patients with an active medication list, one or more medications can be renewed at a time, including all refills. Providers will automatically be notified when renewal requests have been sent once they sign into ePrescribe.

To renew a prescription:
  1. Select the patient.

Note: Skip this step if working from the exam screen.

  1. Go to Patient > ePrescribe.

Note: If working from the exam screen, launch ePrescribe by going to Prescriptions > ePrescribe, selecting ePrescribe from the sidebar on the left, or voicing the command “ePrescribe.”

  1. The patient’s medication list will display. Renew a medication by clicking on the green [Renew]
  2. link next to the medication you wish to renew.
  3. Enter/edit details as necessary and click Continue.
  4. After reviewing prescription, click OK.
To stop a prescription:
  1. Follow steps 1–2 above, click on the red [Stop] link.
  2. Select from the drop-down list the reason for stopping.
  3. Enter a Stop date.

Note: When stopping a medication, if date entered is the same as DOS of an encounter, medication will show in Medication SmartField.

  1. Enter any additional notes in the Notes text box.
  2. Click Stop Medication.

Note: It is advised that you enter a specific reason for the stop as it will display in the patient’s medication history.

Actions:
  • Renew Selected: Renews all medications whose boxes are checked.
  • Select All: Checks all medications in the medication list.
  • Select None: Unchecks all the medications in the medication list.
  • Check Interactions for Selected: Displays drug interactions for allergies and active medications.
