Ideally, the workflow for scheduling an Appointment as requested by or for a Patient would flow as follows:

  1. Search for Patient in database.
    • If Patient exists in the system, skip to step 3
    • If Patient does not exist, or is in the system as a Person, proceed to step 2.
  2. Create New Patient or Make Person a Patient.
  3. Use Next Available to find the earliest convenient Appointment for Patient.
  4. Save Appointment.
Patient View

To view a Patient record in Scheduling, click the Patients button on the toolbar and use the Find field to search for and select the desired Patient.

The Patient record will appear, as shown below.

From the Patient record you can add or edit Patient data, schedule an Appointment using the Next Available function, or print an Address Label.

Add New Patient or Make Person a Patient

If the Patient does not exist in the system – or if they exist as a Person (no Patient ID), follow the steps in the Patient Registration section to add the Patient to the system.
